St Peter’s Heart is recognised by NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) as a Special School. There are specific criteria that potential students must meet in order to be considered for enrolment. The School has identified with NESA that it will provide education for students who are diagnosed with a mild to moderate (Level 1 – requiring support, or Level 2 – requiring substantial support) Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or mild to moderate Intellectual Disability.
St Peter’s Heart is a Kindergarten to Year 6 school for students diagnosed with mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or
Intellectual Disability. To meet our enrolment criteria, applicants must be able to provide recent documented evidence (within 12 months) of a diagnosis of either level 1 or level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Moderate intellectual disability from a medical profession qualified to make the diagnosis. If a student has a combination of level 2 and level 3 ASD then the suitability of the student for enrolment will be at the discretion of the school.
The submission of an Application for Enrolment Form enables the student to be placed on a waiting list for the grade you are interested in. We accept applications at any time, but we strongly recommend applying in advance due to high demand for places. To meet our enrolment criteria, applicants must be able to provide recent documented evidence (within 12 months) of a diagnosis of either level 1 or level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Moderate intellectual disability from a medical profession qualified to make the diagnosis. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee a place at St Peter's Heart.
The school will notify parents and carers about class availability as soon as possible. The main intake is at the Kindergarten level, with other placements offered as vacancies arise. Enrolment is subject to a formal process that includes conducting an enrolment interview, engaging in a collaborative planning process to evaluate the student’s needs and necessary adjustments. This process may also involve meetings and school visits to determine developmental readiness.
Following the enrolment process, the Principal will notify you of the result of your Enrolment application. Subject to the outcome of the process and availability of placements, a letter offering a placement may be sent. Enrolment is offered in accordance with the School’s Enrolment Policy. To accept the student’s placement at St Peter's Heart, you will be required to complete and return the online Acceptance of Offer form together with the non-refundable Enrolment Fee of $900 within 14 days (or as stated in the letter of offer).
